Pricing Breakdown

Residential Painting Packages

Residential painting costs can be complicated, but we use a broad formula which lets us hone in on a ball park figure.

As a general rule of thumb in terms of square meter costing, painting in Sydney ranges from $45 – 65 per square meter.

But depending on size, details and condition of the property, along with access, the cost per square meter can fall above or below this range.

So rather than attempt to accomodate all of those variations here, we’d love you to email or get on the phone with us so we can walk you through the step by step process in real time. This way we ensure every quote will be tailor made to you, your family and your homes exact situation and circumstances.

That being said, the more works we bundle and the larger scale the works, the better the price becomes. So for example combining interior and exterior painting will work out heavily in your favour every time.

commonly asked questions

Painting costs vary, but we use a broad formula which lets us establish some general price ranges.

As a general rule of thumb in terms of square meter costing, interior painting in Sydney will range from $45 – 65 per square meter.

But depending on size, details and condition of the property, along with access, the cost per square meter can fall above or below this range.

Budgeting for house painting involves considering several factors to estimate the overall cost. Follow these steps to create a natural-sounding budget for your painting project:

  1. Assess the project scope: Evaluate your house’s size, the number of rooms, and any additional structures like doors, trims, or exterior surfaces. Determine whether you intend to paint the interior, exterior, or both.

  2. Determine paint quantity: Measure the surface area (walls, ceilings, doors, etc.) in square feet or square meters. Refer to the paint manufacturer’s guidelines for coverage per unit area to estimate the amount of paint needed.

  3. Choose paint type and quality: Decide on the paint type (latex or oil-based) considering factors like durability, finish, and color options. Choose a paint quality within your budget and based on your preferences.

  4. Get cost estimates: Research local paint suppliers and contractors for quotes on paint and any professional services needed. Compare prices, considering labor, materials, and equipment.

  5. Include preparation and additional expenses: Account for prep work like cleaning, sanding, or patching walls. Include the cost of primer, brushes, rollers, painter’s tape, drop cloths, and other necessary supplies.

  6. Consider professional assistance: Decide whether to hire painters or DIY. If opting for professionals, gather multiple quotes and select one within your budget that meets your quality expectations.

  7. Budget for unforeseen costs: Allocate a small percentage for unexpected expenses or repairs during the painting process. Having contingency funds is wise.

  8. Prioritize and adjust: If your budget exceeds available funds, prioritize essential areas and postpone non-essential painting until you have additional resources.

  9. Track and revise expenses: Keep a record of spending, comparing it to your budget. Make adjustments if significant deviations occur.

Keep in mind that project complexity, desired paint quality, and the need for professional help influence costs. Thorough research, planning, and consideration of these factors will help you create a realistic budget for your house painting project.

As mentioned above, painting costs definitely vary depending on a few factors. Below are some general price ranges that can help you in the budgeting and planning stages.

1BR Interior: $2,500 – $3,000

2BR Interior: $3,000 – $4,000

3BR Interior: $4,500 – $6,000

Exterior: $4,000 – $20,000

Single Storey Interior & Exterior: $15,000 – $20,000

Double Storey Interior & Exterior: $25,000 – $35,000

Certainly, a fresh coat of paint adds around 5% of the current value of a home. Making painting most effortless and cost-effective renovation possible prior to marketing.

To explore the numbers further, with the average Sydney property currently sitting at around $1,200,000, the value added to said property will total a whopping $60,000.

With a full Interior & Exterior paint transformation costing around $25,000. The $60,000 increase in value equals to over an effortless 200% return on investment.

Deciding to tackle painting yourself, a.k.a. the DIY route, comes with its perks and drawbacks. Let’s breakdown the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.

  1. Skill and Experience:

    • Pros: DIY is great if you’re confident in your painting skills and want a hands-on experience.
    • Cons: Novices might face challenges like uneven coats or visible brush strokes.

  2. Cost Savings:

    • Pros: DIY can save money on labor costs, potentially making the project more budget-friendly.
    • Cons: However, purchasing tools/ materials and unforeseens such as hurdles/ mishaps may offset initial savings considerably.

  3. Time Commitment:

    • Pros: DIY lets you work at your own pace, fitting your schedule.
    • Cons: Larger projects may take longer than expected, leading to potential delays.

  4. Project Size and Complexity:

    • Pros: DIY is ideal for smaller, straightforward projects where personal touches matter.
    • Cons: Larger or complex tasks might be overwhelming, risking a less polished finish.

In a nutshell, DIY home painting can be a rewarding endeavour, offering cost savings, personalisation, and a sense of accomplishment. However, it’s crucial to be mindful of potential challenges, especially if you’re tackling a sizeable or intricate project. Be sure to assess your skills, time constraints, and project scope to determine whether the DIY approach aligns with your goals and expectations.

Deciding when to involve a professional painting company depends on factors such as the project’s size, complexity, and your own skills. For smaller, manageable projects that align with your capabilities, a DIY approach can be cost-effective and personally rewarding. However, as projects scale up in size and complexity, involving professionals becomes essential for achieving a polished, efficient outcome, especially when faced with intricate detailing, tight schedules, or the need for specialised expertise.
